Antelope Valley Fairgrounds announces the return of the Professional Bull Riders Challenge Tour on the 4th of July

Fireworks Extravaganza to follow the action at 9:30pm

Lancaster, CA. June 7, 2013 — The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds  today announced that the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Challenge Tour presented by the Showdown Rodeo, Inc., will return to the Fairgrounds on the 4th of July.  The PBR will be followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by the Lancaster Auto Mall in partnership with the City of Lancaster and Antelope Valley Fairgrounds.  In addition to the PBR, numerous family oriented activities, great food and shopping for attendees are planned.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the 4th of July at the fairgrounds with our community friends and neighbors, the best of bull riding, and an awesome fireworks show.  We are also extremely proud to be offering $20,000 in added money to our purse this year, which helps draw the best of PBR contestants.  One of the “Best” is PBR World Champion Mike Lee, one of the most recognizable names in professional bull riding who will be competing at our event.   Come early to see the great flag of America float into the arena from the sky above and stay late to see the sky explode with fireworks!” said Johnny Zamrzla, Chairman of the Showdown Rodeo, Inc.

Ron Emard, President of the Antelope Valley Fair Association Board of Directors added, “I can think of no better way to celebrate this important day than by spending it with family and friends here at the fairgrounds enjoying such all-American events like Professional Bull Riding and 4th of July fireworks!  We encourage everyone to come enjoy the food, shopping and entertainment before the first bull busts out the chute!”

“Our annual fireworks extravaganza is entertaining, legal, and most importantly safe,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We are very proud to once again provide this family friendly event for residents throughout the Antelope Valley.”

The festivities kick-off Thursday, July 4th, when the gates open at 4 p.m. The Professional Bull Riders competition will begin at 7p.m., followed at 9:30pm by a spectacular fireworks show.  Live music will be performed throughout the event, as well as plenty of shopping and great food.

About the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR)
The PBR is the world’s premier bull riding organization. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the founding of the PBR.  More than 100 million viewers annually watch primetime PBR programming on networks around the world including CBS, CBS Sports Network, NBC, and NBC Sports Network.

This year’s PBR event features Bull riding champion, Mike Lee.  Lee became the first rider to win both the Built Ford Tough World Finals event title and the Built Ford Tough Million Dollar World Championship in 2004.  In 2008 Lee won $100,000 at the 2008 Calgary Stampede in the Bull Ride competition.

Joining Lee will be consummate professional and crowd favorite, Don Jesser, as the 2013 PBR announcer.  Jesser brings with him over 20 years of experience not only as Rodeo Announcer, but also as a saddle bronc rider, bareback rider, and team roper.  Jesser is one of the very few in the elite category of Rodeo Announcers who actually calls the action on horseback inside the arena.  He blends his rodeo “know how” to describe each thrilling moment of the action through a mixture of play-by-play humorist skills that allows him to educate the fans about their favorite contestants, as well as the events as they occur.

Lee and Jesser will be available for autographs at Hunter Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM, in the Lancaster Auto Mall, 1130 Auto Mall Drive, Lancaster, CA  93534 on Wed., July 3rd, from 4pm-6pm.
